Fireproof insulation and passive fire protection (PFP)

Passive fire protection (PFP) aims at controlling a fire or slowing down the spread of fire by using fire-resistant components. Engineers working in refineries, petrochemical plants and LNG facilities often face the heavy responsibility of protecting human resources and assets from fire and heat. Traditional cement fire insulation has a time-consuming installation process in addition to being easily vulnerable during coating and inspection. Flexible aerogel blanket insulation produced by PANDA Company with low weight, very easy installation capability and excellent passive protection against fire, offers excellent thermal performance.

corrosion under Fire retardant insulation is often a concern for utility operators because cementitious materials do not allow water vapor to escape and cause subsurface corrosion. Aerogel insulators are hydrophobic and breathable, so they keep the equipment under the insulation dry for longer time and prevent CUI, as well as being able to maintain process conditions in the toughest environments.

Aerogel blanket insulators are easier to install and with more coverage per working hour, especially in large pipes, help the equipment return to the process faster. They can be installed in all weather conditions and provide immediate protection of the equipment.

Flexible aerogel blanket allows removal and reinstallation during inspections. By eliminating the waiting time for curing fireproof cement insulation, the production units are exploited more quickly and have a higher profitability. Aerogel blanks have been tested to the strictest fire protection standards and are capable of withstanding jet fire and hydrocarbon fire.

Advantages:

  • Multipurpose:
By combining the properties of thermal insulation and excellent fire resistance in one product, engineers can simplify their designs and reduce the volume of materials and process steps.
  • Ease of installation:
Due to the lightness, flexibility and excellent resistance of these insulators, the installation operation is faster and easier.
  • Ability to open, close and reuse:
Flexible aerogel blanket insulators can be opened several times during inspections and used without reduced performance or re-shedding.
